Our Company History 

Alvechurch Heating and Plumbing Services Ltd. Was first established in 1972 by Philip Dashey and his wife Beryl and incorporated officially in 1973. Back in the late 60’s early 70’s and after leaving the Army, Philip was a young pipefitter / coded welder with an inspiration to develop a successful pipefitting business using his skills but most of all his enthusiasm for perfection in pipework. His burning desire to become successful took him to the metal finishing industry in the late 70’s early 80’s and became quite a service to be reckoned with regarding quality of workmanship and attention to detail for a world renowned company known as W.C. Canning’s Engineering who had a virtual monopoly in the metal finishing industry. Philip continued to support W.C. Canning’s Engineering until their demise in the late 80’s due to the fast development of plastics within the motor vehicle manufacturing industry.

Philip bought his sons into the business in the late 70’s and Peter quickly followed in his Fathers footsteps and became a fully coded Lloyds class 1 registered welding engineer in all types of welding but specialised in stainless steel T.I.G. welding and then went on to achieve his Gas Safe domestic and industrial qualifications soon afterwards and then has furthered his career by undertaking nearly all pipework jointing methods / skills in all areas of the pipework industry and can now proudly and confidently state that “If it travels in a pipe then we can install it”.

Peter went on to gain enormous experience in pipework services with many visits to the military sector including Royal Navy facilities throughout the UK and Army bases and the Royal Air Force, and then gained additional experience within the health service / hospitals and universities in the UK and some works in Europe and the Middle East before tailoring the business to suit the requirements of the Aerospace industry and Nuclear Marine Power industries. Today HPS Ltd continues to support the Aerospace Industries paying particular attention to the more hygienic pipework installations such as cleanroom services and pipework supplying very high purity industrial / medical gas lines amongst many other types of specialised pipework services.

Recently HPS Ltd have opened new offices and workshop facilities in South Derby know as The Innovation Hub on the South Derby Aerospace campus which is also shared by other Aerospace companies such as Rolls-Royce Aerospace and Airbus Industries and we hope to be providing our services to our new neighbours when the development is nearing completion planned for 2025.
